Commitment-Based Dog Training!

Dylan Hockstein grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs of Cheltenham Township, PA. His parents acquired their first dog as a couple when he wandered into the teen enclave they supervised while on staff at a camp in the Pocono mountains. After they discovered that this cute little mutt had strayed from a litter belonging to the camps’ maintenance family and they were given permission to keep it. After all, they fell in love with little “Avo” the moment they laid eyes on him. Dylan also worked the same camp as CIT and as a NFTY counselor supervising children during their adventure gatherings.

Since that time, his family has always had a dog including Miniature Schnauzer, JD (Just Dog) and later a Bichon Frise called “Rasta,” since his family vacationed in Negril, Jamaica many times. His mother, taught science enrichment as an elementary school teacher and Dylan grew up around all different kinds of animals at a young age including: an iguana, rabbit, turtles, frogs, and a few parakeets. Dylan has always been an avid animal lover and spent many happy days at the local dog park with his and other dogs. He has always loved being around dogs big or small. He’s always felt naturally comfortable around them.

Dylan attended Montgomery County Community College on a liberal arts track with an emphasis on graphic design before transferring to Penn College where he focused on construction and ancillary studies, after which he worked for A.M.H. Creative Construction, LLC., a bi-coastal contractor in the Philadelphia and Utah markets. He also worked for a local food service as a line cook, doing food preparation and order management.

Dylan has lived in Philadelphia for five years and has been a live music enthusiast for his entire life. After starting a concert lighting business, it wasn’t until a little over a year ago that he finally realized how much he missed having a dog and made the commitment to get his first, very own dog; a Mini Australian Shepherd he named “Kudo”. They quickly created a strong bond, and Dylan didn’t realize how much of an impact Kudo would have on his life… for the better! They take long hikes in the Wissahickon Gorge and go swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. Kudo is his number one adventure pal and, of course, his best friend!

Through a fortuitous meeting with a family member, Dylan contacted a local dog training company, Canine Trade Group. Potential candidates go through a rigorous selection process and must complete an intense course of study involving hundreds of hours of training, regardless of their prior training background and experience. This course involves an extensive amount of bookwork on the scientific principles of canine learning theory and dog training, as well as an in-residence, hands-on dog training component. This is achieved by working with rescue dogs labeled “unadoptable” due to behavioral issues, and families with dogs who have behavior problems that put them at serious risk for surrender, or worse.

Canine Trade Group creates partnerships within a nationally recognized training network. Dylan graduated the rigorous trainer’s course and certification that CTG offers and continues to expand his dog training education, working with other professional trainers, veterinarians, and behaviorists through Canine Trade Group and it’s Commitment Based Training Program.

Dylan’s goal is to set you and your dog on a path that will enhance your life with your dog and deepen your sense of patience, compassion and love for your devoted family member. He is committed to being available to you until all YOUR GOALS are met.
